Top AI visibility agencies in Kuala Lumpur: what the first 30 days should look like

Top AI visibility agencies in Kuala Lumpur don't start with content. They start by checking whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity can reach your website at all, then fix the facts about your business, then measure a fixed list of buyer questions across all four assistants. Geo One works this way: an audit in week one, entity and schema fixes in week two, content and FAQs in week three, and a written report in week four showing which prompts you appeared in and which you didn't. If a proposal skips the audit and jumps to blog posts, it's guesswork.

The examples below come from professional services in the Klang Valley — law and accounting practices, clinics, dental and veterinary surgeries, consultancies where the partner's name is the brand. For e-commerce the sequence is the same; the pages differ.

What does an AI visibility agency actually do?

The work — generative engine optimisation (GEO) or answer engine optimisation (AEO) — has one job: when a buyer asks an AI assistant for a recommendation, your business should be named and described correctly.

That splits into three tasks. Access: the assistants' crawlers have to be able to read your pages. Accuracy: your name, address, services and credentials have to match everywhere they appear, so the model treats you as one clear entity rather than three half-versions. Evidence: pages that answer the questions buyers actually type, with facts a model can lift and attribute.

Everything else is reporting.

Week one: can AI crawlers reach your site?

Cloudflare, which sits in front of a large share of Malaysian small business websites, has replaced its old single AI-bot toggle with three separate controls covering Search, Agent and Training crawlers. According to Cloudflare's own blog, on free-tier accounts Training and Agent crawlers are blocked by default on pages carrying ads. GPTBot, ClaudeBot and CCBot fall into the blocked group.

The structural point: these controls live in your Cloudflare dashboard, not in robots.txt. An audit that only reads robots.txt will tell you everything is fine while the block sits one layer above it. If you're on a free plan and have never opened those settings, you may be blocking the systems you're paying an agency to get you into.

In week one, a competent agency should show you your robots.txt file, your Cloudflare crawler settings, and a plain-English list of which AI crawlers are allowed and which are not. Schema and content work is wasted effort on a site the model can't fetch. You can start the same check yourself with the free AI visibility scanner.

Week two: fix what the assistants think your business is

AI assistants build a picture of your firm from every place your details appear. In Malaysia that list has entries global checklists miss: your SSM registration name, usually longer and more formal than the name on your signboard; your professional body listing, whether that's the Malaysian Bar directory, the MIA member firm list, or the MMC and Malaysian Dental Council registers; your Google Business Profile; and old directory entries carrying an office you left years ago.

If your accounting firm is "Tan & Co" on one listing and "Tan and Company PLT" on another, and lists a Bangsar address you vacated in 2022, you've given the model three weak signals instead of one strong one.

The bilingual version of this problem is specific to us and almost nobody fixes it. "Klinik Pergigian Sri Petaling" and "Sri Petaling Dental Clinic" can end up as two separate entities in a model's picture of the market, each with half your reviews and half your credentials. Pick one primary name, and declare the other as an alternate name in your structured data rather than letting it float loose across directories.

So week two is entity work: one business name, one address, one phone number, one description, marked up in schema. For solo professionals, add the person as an entity too. An insurance agent or property negotiator in KL is the business, and the assistants need to connect the name to the firm, the qualifications and the service area. That's covered in our personal branding for solo professionals work.

Week three: content that earns a citation, not content that fills a calendar

Google's published guidance on AI features in Search is uncomfortable for anyone selling shortcuts: there is no separate AEO-only schema trick or file that buys placement, and AI Overviews are built on the same core ranking and quality systems as organic results. Strong search foundations do most of the lifting.

So write the pages your buyers actually ask for. Not "5 tips for choosing a lawyer", but the question a Cheras clinic owner types at 11pm: what does a company secretary in Kuala Lumpur charge, can I file SST myself, how long does a work permit renewal take.

Answer it in the first two sentences. Put the number in. If you can't source a number, leave it out rather than guess. We explain the full sequence on our GEO and AEO methodology page.

Week four: the first report, and how to tell if it's honest

By the end of month one you should get a report that names the buyer prompts being tracked, shows which assistants mentioned you for each, and shows which competitors were named instead. Not traffic. Not impressions. Mentions.

Two things separate a real tracking list from a decorative one. It runs across all four assistants — the sets of sources different assistants cite overlap far less than most owners assume, so being visible in one says little about the others. And in Malaysia it runs in both languages. "Berapa kos setiausaha syarikat" and "company secretary fees Kuala Lumpur" are not the same query to a model, and may not return the same shortlist. Ask to see both.

Visibility can also fall after an unannounced model update rather than a search algorithm change, and you won't see that coming unless someone is checking regularly. Geo One monitors client visibility daily across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity.

Movement is usually slow and uneven. For Omega Pets, a pet care brand in Selangor, our tracked AI visibility score moved from 0 to 30 between 8 and 22 August 2024. That figure only means something next to the prompt list it was measured against. Any agency quoting you a "visibility score" should state in writing what the scale counts and which prompts produced it. We publish what we can on our results page. No agency can promise you a placement in an AI answer, and you should walk away from one that does.

Month two should look duller than month one: the same prompt list re-run, a short note on what moved and what didn't, and the next tranche of pages. If the prompt list changes every month, you can't tell progress from reshuffling.

What a good agency in Kuala Lumpur won't do

It won't sell you citation farming. Google has confirmed its spam policies cover attempts to manipulate generative AI responses in Search, and its spam updates apply globally and across all languages, including Bahasa Malaysia.

It won't publish under your name without approval, quote you a guaranteed position, or tell you search engine optimisation no longer matters — Google's own guidance says the opposite. Geo One also doesn't build back-office automation or chatbots. AI visibility is the whole job here.

What this costs, and what to ask for

Geo One prices monthly programmes from RM500 to RM2,000, depending on how many buyer prompts you track and how much of the site needs rebuilding. That's the working range for an SME of 2 to 50 staff or a solo professional in Kuala Lumpur. Full detail is on the pricing page.

Ask any shortlisted agency for three things: the crawler audit, the tracked prompt list in both languages, and a sample month-one report with the client's name redacted. If they can produce all three in a meeting, they've done this before. You can also run a free scan of your business or message the Geo One team.

Frequently asked questions

How long before my business appears in AI answers? There's no fixed timeline, and anyone quoting one is guessing. What you can hold an agency to is the review cycle: what's measured, how often, and what changed since last month.

Do I still need SEO if I'm doing GEO? Yes. Google says its AI features in Search draw on the same core ranking systems as organic results, so GEO builds on search foundations rather than replacing them.

Can I check my own AI visibility first? Ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity the exact question a buyer would ask, in the same wording, and write down who gets named. Run it in English and in Bahasa Malaysia, across all four — being cited in one rarely means being cited in the others.
