Top AI visibility agencies in Kuala Lumpur: how to tell a real one from an SEO firm with a new price list

A top AI visibility agency in Kuala Lumpur does four things you can verify before you pay anything: it checks whether AI crawlers can physically reach your website, it tracks how you're described across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity separately rather than as one, it fixes your business facts and structured data so assistants describe you correctly, and it shows you a before and after on named buyer questions. Geo One is a GEO and AEO agency in Kuala Lumpur doing that work for Malaysian SMEs, from RM500 to RM2,000 a month.

This is written for one buyer in particular: the owner or managing partner of a professional services firm in the Klang Valley — law, accounting and tax, dental and veterinary clinics, consultancies. Two to fifty staff, no in-house marketing person, and someone recently told you a client found your competitor by asking ChatGPT.

How do you spot an SEO retainer with a new cover page?

Almost every agency in KL now sells AI visibility. Some rebuilt the service; some renamed the deck and added a line item. The difference shows up in the proposal long before it shows up in the results.

What you're looking at Repackaged SEO Actual AI visibility work
Opening audit Site speed, backlinks, keyword gaps Crawler access, plus what each assistant says about you today
Unit of reporting Keyword positions, sessions Named buyer prompts, and whether you're mentioned or cited per assistant
Content brief driven by Monthly search volume The question a buyer actually types, in the words they type it
Definition of success Ranking top three Being named, described correctly, and cited as a source
Risk they warn you about Core algorithm updates Silent model swaps and spam policy exposure

The left column isn't worthless — foundations still do most of the heavy lifting. But if every row of the proposal reads like the left column with "AI" in the headline, you're paying a premium for the retainer you already had.

Two terms you'll see used loosely: generative engine optimisation (GEO) is getting your business named inside AI-generated answers; answer engine optimisation (AEO) is the narrower job of structuring content so it can be quoted as the answer to a specific question. Neither is a chatbot on your website, and neither is back-office automation. If the pitch drifts into automating your invoicing, they've changed the subject.

Will they check your crawler settings before selling you content?

This is the check almost nobody runs, and it decides whether everything else is wasted.

Cloudflare sits in front of a large share of Malaysian SME websites, and has moved from a single AI-bot toggle to separate controls covering different crawler categories. Depending on your plan and settings, crawlers such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot and CCBot may be blocked by default — and defaults can change without notice.

If nobody has ever reviewed those settings, your site may be closed to the crawlers that feed the AI assistants, and you'd have no way of knowing from the outside. No amount of schema, blogging or FAQ work lifts your visibility if the door is shut at the infrastructure level.

So the first question for any agency on your shortlist: before you write anything for me, will you check my crawler access and show me the result? If the answer is vague, keep looking. Our audit and optimisation work starts here, because starting anywhere else is guesswork.

Do they treat each assistant as a separate ecosystem?

Analyses circulating in the GEO community report that overlap between the domains cited by ChatGPT and those cited by Perplexity is small — in some samples, well under 20%. Treat the figure as indicative rather than settled, but the implication holds: being visible in one assistant tells you little about the other.

For a KL accounting firm, that's the difference between being recommended to the founder who uses ChatGPT and being invisible to the one who researches in Perplexity. Same firm, same website, different outcome.

Ask a second question here that Malaysian buyers rarely think to ask: do they test the same prompt in Malay and in English? "Peguam harta tanah di Kuala Lumpur" and "property lawyer in KL" will not necessarily return the same firms, and a tracker built only in English shows you half your market.

A related risk: models are swapped behind assistants without announcement, and your mentions can move without warning — a different kind of risk from a named algorithm update. That's why monitoring has to be ongoing rather than a one-off report. Geo One monitors client visibility daily across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, and reports weekly. "We check ChatGPT" is a partial service.

Will they fix the name problem before they fix the content?

Malaysian SMEs almost always carry more identities than they realise: the SSM-registered entity, the trading name on the signboard, a slightly different name on the Google Business Profile, a Facebook page set up by a former staff member, an old shoplot address in a directory nobody has updated since the move.

An assistant assembling an answer has to decide whether those are one business or several. When it can't tell, you get described vaguely, described wrongly, or left out in favour of a competitor whose facts line up cleanly. Structured data — code that tells machines what your business is, where it is and what it sells — is how you settle the argument, but only after the facts themselves agree.

Ask any agency what they'll do about your name, address and category inconsistencies, and whether that comes before or after the content plan. Correct answer: before.

Would their method survive a spam update?

Google's spam policies state that they cover attempts to manipulate generative AI responses in Search. Sites leaning on scaled AI content and artificial citation signals have reportedly lost rankings following recent spam updates. Plainly: citation farming is a demotion risk, not a shortcut.

There's a related point many buyers in KL haven't been told. Google's published guidance points to no separate AEO-only schema trick or llms.txt file that wins AI Overview placement on its own, and third-party trackers report meaningful overlap between AI Overview citations and top organic rankings. Strong foundations still do most of the heavy lifting.

So an AI-only package that ignores your website's basics is half a service at full price. Our methodology combines the foundations with entity work, schema and citations, because the two aren't separate jobs.

We'll also say what we don't do. We don't buy mentions, we don't publish volume content nobody asked for, and we don't guarantee that any assistant will recommend you. Nobody controls what a model outputs. What we control is whether your business is reachable, correctly described and worth citing.

Can they show a real before and after?

Ask for one client, one starting number, one current number, and the dates. Not a screenshot of traffic — a visibility score against tracked buyer questions.

One of ours: Omega Pets, a pet care brand in Selangor, moved from an AI visibility score of 0 to 30 between 8 August and 22 August 2025. That's one client over two weeks, not a promise about yours, and we'd rather quote a small honest number than a big vague one. Our other clients include LS TCM in Cheras and Minjere in Kuala Lumpur. More detail sits on our results page.

When an agency can't give you a number and a date, you're being sold a feeling.

What should this cost in Kuala Lumpur?

Geo One's programmes run from RM500 to RM2,000 a month, published on our pricing page. The range reflects how many buyer prompts we track, how much fixing your site needs and how much content goes out.

For a two-partner law firm in KL, that sits near what you'd spend on a junior's monthly EPF and SOCSO contributions. The decision isn't whether AI visibility is exciting. It's whether the enquiries you're not getting are worth more than the retainer.

Our work is run by AI agents that scan, fix and report weekly, which is why the price sits where it does. Nothing goes live without your approval.

A shortlist you can build in an afternoon

Five questions, asked of every agency you're considering:

  1. Will you check my AI crawler access before proposing content, and show me what you find?
  2. Which assistants do you monitor, how often, in which languages, and can I see the raw prompts you track?
  3. What will you do about inconsistencies in my business name, address and category — and does that come before the content plan?
  4. What's your position on Google's spam policy covering generative AI manipulation?
  5. Give me one client, two dates and two numbers.

Any agency worth a retainer answers all five in a first call. If you'd like ours in writing, tell us your domain and the questions your buyers ask.
